2004 CEM Award of Merit
Infrastructure / Buildings

KGS Group were awarded the Award of Merit in the Infrastructure / Buildings category at the 2004 Consulting Engineers of Manitoba (CEM) annual awards ceremony for the Waterfront Drive Project. This $9.1 million project consisted of the construction of a new street, pedestrian pathways, docks, and riverbank development to encourage building development on the west side of the new Waterfront Drive.


2003 CEM Award of Excellence
Infrastructure / Buildings

KGS Group were awarded the Award of Excellence in the infrastructure / buildings category at the 2003 CEM annual awards ceremony for the Red River Floodway Expansion Study. This project involved the engineering, economic, socio-economic, and environmental assessment for two flood protection schemes for the City of Winnipeg.


2003 NCMA Award of Honour
Landscape

KGS Group were awarded the Award of Honour in the Landscape Category by the National Concrete Masonry Association of the USA for the Kilkenny Drive North Community Ring Dyke.


2002 CEM Award of Excellence
Resource Development

KGS Group were awarded the top award in the Resource Development category at the 2002 CEM annual awards ceremony for the Rosenort Flood Protection Project. This $12 million Province of Manitoba project consisted of a floodway diversion channel and control structures designed to divert Morris River floodwaters around the community.

Environmental

KGS Group were awarded the Award of Merit in the Environmental category at the 2002 CEM awards ceremony for the Churchill Marine Tank Farm Upgrade. This $1.6 million project at the Port of Churchill consisted of tank farm piping infrastructure and environmental containment for the 45 million litre storage facility.

Industrial

KGS Group were awarded the Award of Merit in the Industrial category at the 2002 CEM awards ceremony for the No. 5 Mill Expansion. This $25 million project was completed for Gerdau-MRM Steel Mill in Selkirk, Manitoba and consisted of a major expansion to their recycled steel rolling mill.


2001 CEM Award of Excellence
Resource Development

KGS Group were awarded the annual Award of Excellence in the Resource Development category at the 2001 CEM awards ceremony for the Pointe Du Bois Powerhouse Stabilization Project. This project for Winnipeg Hydro consisted of installation of post-tensioned strand anchors to improve the stability of the Powerhouse.


2000 CEM Award of Merit
Resource Development

KGS Group were awarded the Award of Merit at the 2000 CEM awards ceremony for the Pointe Du Bois Straflo Turbine Replacement Project for Winnipeg Hydro. This $16 million project consisted of the installation of a horizontal Straflo turbine and generator into one of the existing 1910 vintage powerhouse units as a demonstration for the potential redevelopment of the generating station.


Waterfront Centre Annual Award

In 1993, KGS Group, in association with Scatliff & Associates Landscape Architects, were awarded the Top Honour award for the Assiniboine Riverwalk/Bonnycastle Park Project. This was a juried competition with entries from throughout North America and Internationally.
