BIRDS HILL BEACHES SHAPING UP NICELY

 

"The beaches at Birds Hill Park might be closed for the season but that doesn’t mean there isn’t any action at the popular watering hole.

Kids will be frolicking at revamped beaches at Birds Hill Park next summer. The beach expansion project is part of a five-year, $22-million commitment the provincial government made to Manitoba’s busiest park in 2012.

Ray Offman, a civil engineer with the KGS engineer consultant group, said the project also features attention to the current water infrastructure."

2014 POWER OF WATER CANADA CONFERENCE

 

The Ontario Waterpower Association’s 14th annual Power of Water Canada Conference will be held on October 19th - October 21st 2014, at the White Oaks Resort in Niagara-on-the-lake. This event is the largest gathering of the hydroelectric sector in Canada and features a trade show with more than 50 exhibitors.

KGS Group is pleased to, once again, sponsor this increasingly successful annual gathering of the Canadian waterpower industry.

KGS GROUP RECEIVES SECOND PLACE HONOURS AT THE 2014 HYDROVISION INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

HydroVision International hosted its annual conference from July 22 - 25, 2014 in Nashville, Tennessee.

KGS Group entered the 2014 Technical Papers of the Year division in the Water Management & Movement category and achieved a second place honour.

KGS Group's submission featured the Pointe Du Bois Generating Station Spillway Replacement Project, which highlighted the amalgamation of Numerical and Physical Modeling. Typically, the two types of model studies complement each other. For this project, both models were applied simultaneously for an integrated approach resulting in a more efficient analysis.

KGS GROUP WAS AWARDED THE TAZI TWE HYDROELECTRIC PROJECT

 

In January 2013, KGS Group was awarded the preliminary design phase of the Saskatchewan Power Corporation (SaskPower) / Black Lake First Nation (BLFN), Tazi Twe Hydroelectric Project. It will involve the construction and operation of a 42 megawatt water diversion electrical generating station at Elizabeth Falls. The proposed project will be located adjacent to the Fond du Lac River between Black Lake and Middle Lake, on Black Lake First Nation Reserve lands in northern Saskatchewan. The project will involve the construction and operation of a water intake, power tunnel, powerhouse, tail race, submerged weir, construction camp, bridge, and access roads.

The objective of this Project is to develop additional power generation capacity in Saskatchewan to accommodate growing energy requirements and to support continued northern economic development.

The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies Manitoba honoured excellence in engineering at their 14th annual awards gala on April 17th, 2013. Awards of Excellence and Awards of Merit were presented to KGS Group for projects submitted.
